✦ About the UK ETA (new requirement)
The UK now requires a digital travel permit called an Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA). This is new — US and Canadian citizens (and most other visa-exempt visitors) must have an approved ETA before they fly to, or connect through, the UK. You apply online at GOV.UK or in the official “UK ETA” app; approval is often within minutes but can take up to about 3 working days, so please apply early. Tip: if you already hold a UK or Irish passport, you don’t need an ETA.
Most airlines and countries require at least six months’ passport validity — please double-check yours.
